VACC Skills Development Centre offers a range of specialised technical training courses, designed to deliver specialised skills and knowledge on a variety of subjects, relevant to a rapidly changing industry. The courses give valuable insight into specialised issues important to the automotive industry and will supply applicants with the knowledge and skills to work confidently within these areas.

Trade Certification

VACC Skills Development Centre provides a nationally recognised Automotive Competency Assessment for Light Vehicle Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics and Auto Electricians. 

This Certification is for individuals who can demonstrate over seven years’ motor mechanics’ experience but don’t have an official qualification.

Individuals are able to sit the assessment in the comfort of their own home or workplace. The assessment covers various areas such as steering, brakes, engine and transmission. Applicants are allowed two hours to complete the 100 questions and a pass rate of over 80% is required.

Upon successful completion of the assessment, along with the completion of a Competency Achievement Record Book by a workplace supervisor, participants will receive a nationally recognised trade qualification from VACC. 

This program has been developed by the VACC Technical Department in conjunction with Automotive Training Victoria and Training Systems Australia.
