JOB READY PROGRAM (JRB)

What is the Job Ready Program?

The Job Ready Program (JRP) is a four-step employment-based process, designed to support the aims of the Australian Government's General Skilled Migration (GSM) program. The JRP is managed by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) and provides international graduates that have an Australian trade qualification, the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in their trade and demonstrate their 'jobreadiness' when applying to migrate under the General Skilled Migration visa.

In addition, the applicant must also have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6 or greater in each of the reading, writing, listening and speaking sub-tests of the one General Training test and have work experience performed in Australia that demonstrates a range of tasks and duties in an occupation related to their qualification for at least two days per week over six months (or equivalent).

A successful outcome will enable the applicant to apply to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for a Skilled-Graduate (temporary) visa (subclass 485).
2 Complete the Job Ready Employment JRP participants will have 18 months to complete the required 12-month full-time paid employment in their trade to gain more skills and experience in an Australian workplace. Participants are also required to undertake Australian Workplace Language and Culture professional development with a TRA approved RTO and maintain a Job Ready Journal that demonstrates skills and proficiency in the workplace across a broad range of trade-related tasks.
3 Apply for a Job Ready Workplace Assessment
JRP participants will have an opportunity to demonstrate their trade skills in the workplace to an independent TRA approved Workplace Assessor. Note: TRA will select and appoint a Workplace Assessor to the JRP participant.
4 Apply for a Job Ready Final Assessment
To apply for a Job Ready Final Assessment, participants will need to collect all of the evidence required during Steps 1, 2 and 3, including completion of 12-months paid full-time employment (or equivalent) in their occupation.

A successful Job Ready Final Assessment can be used as the skills assessment required by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to apply for permanent residency under the General Skilled Migration program.
