Case Study: TAE10 Workplace Supervisors Course
2012 Penfold Motors has worked in conjunction with VACC and Kangan
Institute to conduct an in house accredited Apprentice Coaching and
Mentoring program for the group. The program qualified for National Workforce
Development Fund support, and was organised with the assistance of VACC
Education and Training Manager Jodee Price, working with Workforce
Development staff from Auto Skills Australia (ASA).
course was conducted in Penfold's own private training facilities in Burwood
over a period of three months, with 12 participants.
Foon, Penfold's Aftersales Training and Development Manager, was commenting
on the success of training directed at Penfold key staff involved with
apprentice mentoring and workplace training.

Trade Certification Program is back for 2013

certification is the way to go. Delivered in partnership with Kangan
Institute, it is a pathway to have your trade experience, skills and
knowledge assessed and formally recognised via a nationally recognised
qualification in your automotive trade. For requirements, cost and

5 SKILL SHORTAGES IN AUTOMOTIVE
2012 Automotive Environmental Scan Survey
2012 survey results are now available. Light vehicle mechanics were rated
in almost every state as being the occupation most frequently in shortage.
This response was highest in Victoria. Issues of pay, working conditions
and attraction of labour towards the mining sector and other industries,
were cited as the main reasons behind all skill shortages.
